Halo: Windells session two
Halo Wilson
Session 2 is a wrap. Fun times were had by all! The beginning of the summer season rolled in with sunshine, snow and rain, all within our 8 day session. The norm for Mt. Hood this time of year.
I got to ride with Neha who was shredbetties.com and Windells camper of the week for session #2. She was just learning to snowboard, and I took her from one day not knowing how to turn at all, then ripping down steeps the last few days. Her determination was great and it was sick to ride with her!
Back on campus we did a sick Salomon sponsor night with a slalom course through the new concrete skate park. On-hill we had some snowball fights and hit some boxes, jumps, and got some half-pipe action. Check back soon for session #3 update and camper of the session

Camper of the Week for Session # 2 is a 16 year old girl out of DC, named Neha. We hooked her up with a care package from Nikita and Shredbetties.com. Congratulations Neha!

This is a girl with an awesome attitude and a bright outlook on life. She is going to be a senior in high school next year and is already looking forward to college and planning life. She also just came to Windells to learn to snowboard and accomplished this with a little determination and optimism! Neha learned to connect turns in one day! By the end of the week, I had her on the infamous Palmer snowfield (steeper, summer terrain on Mt. Hood) ripping down the hill comfortably. She had a great time and learned some new things and I was stoked to be a part of that. She is an inspirational girl, and that’s why I picked her as COTW! Here are a few words from Neha about her session @ Windells!
H: What was your favorite thing about camp?
N: Just hanging out after a good morning of snowboarding.
Did you like having a girl coach on-hill?
Yeah, it was easier because girls know how girls think. My coach (Halo) knew how to teach me in the most effective way because she knows how I think.
Did you learn anything new, or try something you’ve never done before?
Of course! I learned most of the basics like linking turns, getting on and off the chairlift, and how to go down a halfpipe.
What are your goals with snowboarding?
I really want to be able to pull some tricks in the park in the near future!
Do you have any advice for other girls just learning to snowboard?
Patience and persistance.
Words of wisdom from Neha! Good job girl! Keep working hard and you will go far, both on and off the mountain! Thanks for being an inspiration to other girls out there!! You rock!
Check back soon for my Session 3 update, and http://www.windells.com for more of the summer fun up here at Mt. Hood!
