Ashley Thornton: 4th Annual Baldy Banked Slalom
This past weekend my boyfriend and I packed up our truck and scamper and headed to a beautiful place called Sun Valley, for our second time to compete in the Baldy Banked Slalom. This was the 4th annual BBS. Both winner’s of the Women and Men open classes get awarded a spot to the Mt. Baker Legendary Banked Slalom. Last year I walked away with that spot to race at Baker. We all probably know or have heard about what a great time Baker LBS is right? First place isn’t always the easiest place to get, but I was going to try my hardest and give it a go.
The start gate even resembles our times traveling to the LBS!
pre party was held at Mtn. Approach where they feed us pizza and the kegs where flowing with Good life Brewery out of my home town Bend, Oregon. We all got to wax our boards and mingle with the other racers. They also had one of the coolest snowboard collections that I have seen in my day.
This was turn two. By far the roughest turn on the course.
Forrest having a good time.
At the end of the day I was called up for second place. If you aren’t first your last. Just kidding, I don’t think that way. It was a good turn out. 16 girls and women competed in the open.
One of two hot springs we visited. Nothing better than shredding and then soaking in nature’s healing water.
The after party band rockin it.
I want to thank everybody that put on this awesome event!
