Ride Tokidoki Pant

Size: M
Waterproof: 10k
MSRP: $229.99
I had been looking for a slimmer, tapered, or boot cut snow pant for a while, and came across this Ride collaboration with Tokidoki, some pretty shwanky pants.

Features:
I’ll start with the zippers. There are zippers everywhere, including a non-functional zipper that runs around the circumference of the pant a few inches below the waist. A few people have asked me if it zips off there.  I roll my eyes and ask them what the point of that would be; they’d turn into a ridiculously short skirt. The zippers on all of the pockets on the pants are a nice change from velcro and snap closures on other pants. There are two hand, two cargo and two back pockets. That means plenty of space for whatever you want to put in there. Just don’t plan on storing anything too bulky because the slim fit won’t leave much room for it.  One nice detail about the zippers: they’re made with multicolored metal. Now while I’m sitting on the lift lookin’ fly, my chairlift mates all whisper about how cool those zippers are. Well, not really… but they should.

Although the collaboration may raise the price a bit, the Tokidoki print really brings something unique to the pant. At first glance, it looks like camouflage, but then you realize it’s a bunch of skulls and faces faces mixed up to look badass. You won’t see a print like this anywhere else, so it’s nice to know you’re probably not going to look like you’re part of a boy band by wearing the same shit as everyone else.  The pants come in two different colorways: black/gray and pink/white.

The inside of the pants are just as sweet as the outside. There is a patch of fleece sewn into the ass area so you won’t get cold sitting on a chairlift or on the snow waiting for your boyfriend to catch up. Throughout the rest of the pants is a satiny material which helps them slide on smoothly: you don’t get your base layer stuck or bunched when putting the pants on.

Fit:
The top of the pants are definitely made for girls with curvier hips.  If you’ve got skinny legs or narrow hips, they look a bit like pantaloons.  You can wear them low on your hips with a long jacket, so this isn’t so noticeable ... or you could just eat Big Macs all day long and fill them out naturally.

The waist adjusters were one thing I didn’t like.  This is where there SHOULD be Velcro of some kind so you can custom cinch your waist to fit properly. Instead, there are two snaps to choose from: a smaller and a larger size.

Waterproofing:
They seem waterproof enough, but if waterproofing is your primary concern, these don’t have that high of a rating. I wore them in a few different conditions and found that the knees and butt got wet from snow melting on the fabric, or sitting down for a lengthy period of time. You won’t be soaked though, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

Bottom line: If you’re in the market for an aesthetically pleasing & unique article of clothing, and don’t mind the lack of waterproofing/insulation, check these out.
