What did you think of snowboarding the first time you tried it?
It was awesome, I just wanted to go fast.
Pirates or Ninjas?
Ninjas.
What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to you while snowboarding?
I was 50-ing a fallen tree, and waited too long to jump off. I ended up stuck upside down in the branches, hanging just a couple of feet from the ground. I had to yell for someone to come help me un-strap my board so I could get down. It was pretty funny…

Where’s the coolest place you’ve traveled to ride?
Mt. Hood in the summer… So fun!

Rails or Powder?
Powder tree jibs.
What would you do if you couldn’t ride?
Hmmmm…If it was summer, and I was at Hood, I would patrol the HCSC lap park and bronze.
Have you ever had a scary injury? If so, how’d you get back into snowboarding?
Last December I hyper-extended my elbow, dislocated it, tore the ligament, and fractured my humerus bone. I had to get an arm brace, but started riding again after a few months. I just re-injured my elbow this summer… Now, I’m going to wait another couple of months to get a nicer brace…And maybe wear it until i’m fully healed this time.

What’s your advice for girls trying their first rails?
Take it easy, have fun with it, and do whatever feels comfortable. Take everything one step at a time.

Do you think it’s still a struggle being a female snowboarder, or have things pretty much evened out?
Sometimes, it seems like more girls are sponsored for being pretty rather than for riding hard… And that bums me out. I don’t feel like looks matter as much in male snowboarding. Other than that, I think things are pretty evened out.
What are your plans for next season?
I have one more year left of college at the University of Vermont. I will be riding at Bolton Valley again and traveling around the East coast. Hopefully I’ll be riding more urban.
