First and foremost, thank you Kelly for writing about this new company. It’s always great to see women in the industry making a name for themselves after their pro career has ended. I can’t deny that her outerwear is fun and stylish, but I do have a few issues with the direction for which she has taken her company.

I agree with “Supadupa” in regards to being proud to display yourself as a woman while on the slopes, but I do not feel that “bringing back the bunny” is something to be boasting. Sure the term “snow bunny” may be appealing to some, but to me (and I feel to many of our readers here at Shred Betties) a “Snow Bunny” is a derogatory term that is comparing women to a trophy. As if these women are prizes who can ski but their priority is to look good and be sexy, not to ski or ride. They don’t really like the cold, but go out there to have a bit of fun just for the heck of it.

So in my opinion, I do not feel that the marketing scheme adopted by Circe Snow is appropriate or empowering. Do I think that dressing like a dude is the solution to making women on the mountain seem more legit? Do I agree with the statement on the Circe Snow website (also quoted by Kelly) “The better you look, the more success you’ll have?” Absolutely not. It is through the girls who are out there slaying the pow or the park every day making their presence on the mountain; its through accomplished riders like Kelly Clark, Gretchen Blieler, and Hannah Teter who put themselves in the lime-light as positive role-models to all women while simultaneously investing their time to improver our communities;  It’s through organizations like Shred Betties, Betty Rides, Cilla, Nikita, and many others that are working on giving women in the sport an equal voice.

So let me ask you this Miss Supadupa, what is so wrong with having a signed poster of Kelly Clark, an empowered, accomplished, incredible woman hanging up in your room?
