Spotlight Shredder: Jenny Christman
Name: Jenny Christman
Years riding: 12
Home mountain: Blue Mountain Ski Resort, PA
What is your favorite spot to ride on your home mountain?
Without a doubt, the parks at Blue Mountain. My favorite is Sidewinder. I love the view!
How do you describe yourself as a rider?
Adaptable and positive. Features and jump lines vary throughout the season, you have to go with the flow and overcome whatever fears you have by channeling all your nerves into positive energy. And do it by having fun! You can’t take yourself too seriously. What fun is that?
Powder pig or park rat?
You’ll find me in the park most of the time, but there’s nothing better than feeling free riding through fresh powder back in the woods. Plus, you get to be creative and find fun things to session in nature and falling doesn’t hurt as bad!
What was your set up this past season?
2015 Flow Jewel 146, with 2015 Isis Flow Bindings.
Do you want to change it up this coming winter?
I ride for Flow Snowboards through my local board shop, so I’m forever grateful when they help me out with a new setup. I’m always up for trying something new!
Any travel plans for this season?
Yes! Canada! Heli-boarding in Revelstoke, British Colombia and shredding Lake Louise in Alberta for our honeymoon. Also, Mt Hood in Oregon and a bunch of weekend trips in Vermont. Carinthia Parks at Mount Snow is always a must!
If you could pick anywhere in the world to shred, where would it be?
So hard to pick one place! Anywhere where there’s good snow, good friends and good vibes. Although, New Zealand is definitely on my list for its natural beauty.
Who’s the pro who inspires you the most?
Christy Prior. Her style is unbelievable, she charges so hard and is such a powerful rider. And Jamie Anderson for her positive vibes and love for nature. But, my real inspiration comes from riding with my friends who are so passionate about the sport and lifestyle we love.
What advice would you give a friend who is going riding for the first time?
Just embrace it. There’s a learning curve, and it’s challenging but rewarding. You’ll learn so much about yourself, so keep laughing and you’ll have a blast.
What would your perfect shred day be like?
Snowboarding at sunrise above the clouds with my crew. Getting a mix of fun, progressive park laps and fresh powder lines through the glades. Ending the day with good brews and friends next to a cozy fire.
What tricks are you trying to put down by the end of this coming season?
Every season, I tell myself, I just want to land whatever tricks I’m throwing, even if they’re the basics. I think style is so key, so cleaning up my bag of tricks is always a focus. I have a few I’d like to dial in, including my 270 outs. I’d also like to try a back 5.
If you could have one super power, what would it be?
To stay young forever. Life is so rad and I just want to experience everything.
You recently tied the knot. Congrats! How will that effect your day to day snowboarding?
Thank you! I’ll no longer be shredding with my fiancé, I’ll be shredding with my hubs!
Cheeseburgers or ice cream?
Ice cream, ice cream and more ice cream. NOM!
