WTF - Is Every All-Girl Event on the Same Weekend?
I just got in a whole slew of final “reminder” press releases for upcoming competitions and posted them on the site, and it occurred to me as I was posting them, that they all seem to be on the same day! I know, I probably should have noticed that they were on the same day the first time the dates came out. What can I say, I’m a little slow.
I’m sure this was just some kind of error - like they were all working with their respective host resorts and ended up picking the same weekend, but maybe there should be communication here, people! I mean, there aren’t that many all-girl events out there, so why would you want your event to happen on the same weekend as the Roxy Chicken Jam? Kinda seems like the media might be a little distracted, or might even decide to skip your event entirely so that their audience isn’t too overwhelmed with girlishness.
And what about smaller magazines, such as ourselves, who only have one video camera! Do they think we have some sort of teleport device that would allow Diana to zap herself around and cover all of the events? Ahhhh!
For the Queen’s Cup Open in Park City, this seems like a big deal - this is a pretty big event, with an unusual team format that pairs pro skiers and riders with groups of am skiers and riders. Seems like it might be a little hard to get many big name pros involved, since most of them are at the Chicken Jam!?
Then another Queen event, the Girl Powder Queen of the Park is happening in Tahoe, not too far away from the Chicken Jam in Mammoth. Which doesn’t seem that great for spectator or media attendance. Even the am riders who’d be competing may be off checking out the Chicken Jam.
