Hoodie Tuesday III

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from all of us at Shred Betties! May the gift-wrapped boxes you receive be filled with glorious goodies both snow-related and not. Today, we’re intruding on Beanie Thursday turf. Why? Because we can, will, and want to.

Hoodie Tuesday II

This hoodie is so sly that it doesn’t even have a hood. I guess that technically it makes it a jacket or fleece sans hoodie status. But, that doesn’t stop me from liking it!

Hoodie Tuesday I

Did you know that there are as many phobias as exist situations and things? Well, you better believe it. In fact, there’s an entire site dedicated to the art of creating absurd phobias...er...I mean there’s a site that lists all the phobias in existence.www.phobialist.com. During the winter I fall spell to Ombrophobia, fear of rain, which the forecast predicts here in southern New England for the next couple of days. Call me optimistic, or maybe just extremely unprepared, but I don’t even own a raincoat- just umbrellas.
Apparently humans aren’t the only ones with fears. Hoodies have them too! In fact, today’s hoodie hates water. Now, it doesn’t have gore-tex to protect itself from the rain, it’s just a hoodie. However, it doesn’t soak up water like nearly every other hoodie. Holy hydrophobic hoodies batman! I’m talking about the Volcom Easy Air Hydro hoodie.

Hoodie Hump Day

Yes, I know it’s not tuesday, but it’s summer and you don’t see many people wearing hoodies so hoodie tuesday has taken a hiatus. However, good ‘ol Wednesday (or hump day as it’s sometimes called) is a little lonely. So we’re giving it some love (get it? Hump day, love? I crack myself up sometimes).

Matix March

The winds have blown March in, meaning it’s time to get some hoodies for those gusty days on the hill or off the hill (in case you haven’t bought any of the other hoodies that is). Here at Shred Betties, we love Matix. We hope you love them too, and just a little reveal of what’s to come in March…you can look forward to some Matix items as prizes in a SUPER BIG contest we’ll be starting later this month. Get excited! No..really…get excited. This contest, of epic proportions, is about to blow.your.mind…and save your wallet. Anyway, enough about that. Today’s hoodie is the Matix Melbourne Hoody ($50). Stripes have been in for awhile, and I doubt they’re going anywhere. So strike out and stripe out by buying this hoodie, available in two colorways: Butter Cup and Vintage Blue. The Melbourne is a nice cotton fleece hoodie to have on the windy days of March and works well to wear up on the hill for spring riding.

Our Favorites at the X-Games

On a lighter note, in case you’re having trouble finding footage of the chicks on expn.com, we’ve compiled a few of our favorites:

Claudia Fliri is a Shred Betties staff favorite; we’ve been seeing great footage and photography of this Austrian rider from competitions across Europe. She didn’t let us down in her first X-Games appearance, placing 2nd and hitting the big jumps that were taking down most of the other girls, including a huge 540 over the 60 foot gap:

H is for Hoodie and it’s Good Enough for Me

I wonder which of you got my Seasame Street reference. Yes, that’s right, I referenced Seasame Street. You know…”C is for cookie and that’s good enough for me.” I never actually watched that show much as a kid. I can’t even remember what shows I watched at all. Let’s see, there was Barney in the very early days and then I loved Scooby Doo, The Flinstones, and the Jetsons. Good times. I do remember I used to park myself in front of the TV to watch these shows in some oversized t-shirt that was a men’s XL. Speaking of oversized, today’s hoodie has an oversized hood. Coming in at the slightly unattractive price of $115, the Coal Madison Hooded Sweater is definitely cute and unlike the conventional hoodie. It has corduroy elbow patches, and a decorative wood button to separate it from the pack of standard hoodies. In addition, it’s made from a wool blend instead of the usual cotton/polyester that most hoodies are comprised of. The Madison comes in two colorways: Heather Charcoal, and Natural (a whitish color and light blue).

Technical Hoodie Tuesday

So technically hoody/hoodie are both correct spellings for hooded sweatshirt, and I’ve been using hoody for quite some time now. It just seems as if everytime I see one online, it has “hoodie” in the name. Therefore, from this point on it is Hoodie Tuesday. Or, henceforth this day shall be known as Hoodie Tuesday. Henceforth is such a fun word, don’t you think? Anyway, speaking of technically’s, today’s hoodie borders on a technical base layer. The Mountain Hardwear Beaten Path Hoodie not only has such a fantastic name, it’s got a whopper of a list for technical features. Wicking fabric, removable hood, and thumb loops are just a few. The hoodie comes in Lagoon (Blue), and Brownie. Read on!

Hoodie Tuesday: Turkey Detox

We hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving. I’m pretty sure I ate more than I should have, so now it’s time to detox and get back to my usual food intake. With that mindset, today’s hoody is something simpler, and easier on the wallet than past hoodies. I introduce to you the Hurley One of Many at $40. This hoody comes with subtle Hurley logos dotting the front and Hurley written on the chest. It comes in Black, Heather Grey, White Wash, and Wild Berry. Here it’s shown in White Wash.

Hoodie Tuesday: Gobble Gobble

What are you thankful for? We’re thankful for hoodies..by the truckload (I wish). Anyway, today’s hoody is the O’Neill Myspace 2 Reversible which retails for about $60. One side has a cute dotted pattern with “O’Neill” written inside the dots. The other side just has “O’Neill” repeating over and over. It’s like two hoodies in one! Two for one Tuesday. It also has thumbholes in the sleeves. I don’t know about you, but more hoodies should have thumb holes. The hoody only comes in white with these patterns on it. Enjoy!

Hoodie Tuesday: Election Day

Happy Election Day, Tuesday, November 6th, Birthday (if you’re celebrating one), Anniversary (if that applies), and National Nachos Day (apparently that’s today?). And of course, Happy Hoody Tuesday. Today’s hoody is another Nikita hoody, partially because I felt bad about last week, and partially because I just like the hoody. The Nikita Judy Hoodie (nikitaclothing.com) goes for about $54 and features a cool print with white/ocean blue/purple as the only color scheme.

Hoodie Tuesday: Hungry for Triscuits

No there is not a triscuit hoody, (at least that I know of). However, the DC Trisket is just as deliciously awesome, but not edible…unless you’re the hoody sleeve chewing type. Its fleecy interior is perfect for the cold weather to come. If you can’t tell from the picture, it has cute buttons going up both sides. It sort of reminds me of Keith from Project Runway last season when he made the dress with the red button, then got kicked off for allegedly “cheating.” Anyway…we found the hoody online for $52..so it’s definitely cheaper than the past couple of hoody tuesday hoodies. It comes in Heather Grey and Plumeria with a pattern on the outside.

Hoodie Tuesday: Halloween

Happy Day Before Halloween! Would you call this mischief day?..or rather..Misschief day? Anyway, in the spirit of Halloween and all things scary, this week’s hoody is one that scares us here at Shred Betties: the Nikita Saadia Zipped Hoody. When Kelly first showed me this hoody I thought, “Are we in The Wizard of Oz? because that looks like a scarecrow costume.” In fact, I’m sure you could actually scare crows in the field with this one. Maybe even little kids that come trick-or-treating. We suggest you save your $60 for something a little more human.

Hoodie Tuesday: I’m Seeing Stars

You may want to put on some shades for this one. This week’s hoody is the Kidrobot Starry Day Hoodie (kidrobot.com). It’s certainly a flashy hoody (pun intended), but I really like it. Our Art Director, Julie, says Kidrobot hoodies are comfy so we’ll take her word for it. Um..you’re not going to like the price I’m about to spit out, but it’s because this hoody is limited edition! There’s only 112 in existence. Though, if you want you could buy the men’s version (it isn’t as fitted) for which there are 256. But just think, you could be one of the select few owners of such a magnificent piece of clothing. Also, this hoody isn’t just sold everywhere. Besides the 3 Kidrobot stores, it’s only sold in select boutiques (or on eBay if you’re lucky).

Hoodie Tuesday II

Yes, it’s certainly Hoody Tuesday time again. On this week’s silver platter is the Matix Asher Zip-up for Fall 2007 (matixclothing.com). In the past few years Matix has been coming out with solid women’s clothing, and these Asher hoodies definitely fit that description. Unfortunately, I don’t own one of these fantastic hoodies ( I have to limit myself or my entire closet would consist of nothing but hoodies and beanies), but I’ve tried them on and they’re comfy and cute. On Matix’s fall ‘07 line there are 8 colors/prints (Repeat Grey is shown at the right) that the Asher comes in and, depending on the color, it retails for about $60-65…
