WTF Wednesday - Skinny Pants
This past Saturday I checked out a double feature of the latest Mack Dawg films, ‘Double Decade’ and ‘Down with People’ at The Meeting. Never having been much for watching sports, I tend to find snowboard films a bit boring. But it’s especially when they do a lot of talking, Down with People has some pretty amusing talking, but not until the credits, when they had footage of Jeremy Jones and Todd Richards mocking all the boys in tight pants. Cuz, just when you thought guys couldn’t wear any tighter pants while snowboarding without some embarrassing seam rips, the People crew managed to add in that extra level of spandex-ness. So, when I saw these pants from Vans, the first thing that popped into my mind was the some guy like Jon Kooley or Jordan Mendenhall trying to stuff his package into them.
Then I thought, “gah! Pink and black zebra print, what is this, hair metal’s return?” After that, I thought “WTF, how do those shoes match those pants?”
Anyway, as a girl of the more fat-assed persuasion, let me take a moment to bitch about these super skinny jeans, which were a bad idea in the 80’s, and still don’t look good on much of anyone. Even the model, who has presumably been hired for the quality of her butt and legs, looks a bit funny from the butt view. Plus, if they have to make the model pose with one leg slightly crossing over the other so her camel toe won’t show in the picture, that’s telling you something about the fit of the pants. What, do you have to hop around with one leg across the other to avoid embarrassment? On the upside, they should help some snowboard boy to look metal, and show everyone the outline of his man parts. I guess I’ve just turned into one of those old ladies who can’t understand the fashion of young folk today.

your right, those pants w/ those shoes are HORRIBLE!! i honestly think the only way i wear SKINNY jeans is if im wearing a pair of high boots, a cute pair. u kno the ones with cute fur or the emu type (not the hitler knee high battle combat boots iiiiick). only because skinny jeans fit very very well when your wearing a high boot you dont have to shove all the extra pant into the boot. otherwise in my opinion skinny jeans are a HUGE no no for me!!!
oh and a printed skinny jean .. actually ANY printed jean is just DISGUISTIN!!

I actually say some plain black skinny jeans today..it made me a little sad inside...you have to be buttless and shapless to even fit urself in a pair...whats the fashion statement? im hungry and cant afford more cloth? lol

then again mine aren’t super tight
they’re the venice jeans from pac sun.
and im not some shapeless skinny assed girl either
the bullhead jeans actually fit my ass rather well i think.

i LOVE skinny jeans and i even have hips! they look really nice on me, so i can’t speak for you guys. i kinda dress a little scenic-like so i guess they are popular with the crowd i run with! however, i’m not a fan of the ones pictured.

i don’t really like skinny’s (flared for life) but they really can look nice on some people. The ones in the picture are horrible.

I totally agree, the only people that look even close to decent in skinny jeans are girls with no figures. But I mean, if you already have a muffin top, why would you want to make it worse by turning your lower body into an upside-down triangle?

[anna] see i kinda have a problem with that
you should be in somewhat good shape to look good in them. that goes for all jeans in my opinion though. i mean as far as fatty legs goes the only thing you can really hide is cellulite. and ive seen where people wear them so tight that it doesnt even hide that
for instance. im a size 9
but i workout, so my legs are toned, and because i buy jeans in my size it looks better. i even get people who think im a size 4 sometimes (talk about a confidence booster!)
my theory is buy what fits.
if you get a pair of jeans and you can barely zip them up..its time to go up a size. i know it sucks, but hey, thats life.

DearTragedy
see, the problem here is that people just aren’t buying the right kind of skinny jeans for their bodies. the type of skinnys i wear are a little stretchy so they stretch a little in my hip area, therefore they fit nicely! i do have a figure and am in shape; no muffin top here!

oh kelly, you old fart! i would totally wear these...dazzle camo i say. i can only imagine what my white girl ghetto booty would do to that zebra print. moose knuckle indeed. looks like the model is doing the bunny dip to avoid that nicely.

is it possible to do the bunny dip while walking?

I wasn’t to big on skinny jeans when they first came out.. but I own a couple pairs now.. and I LoVe em!!! You just cannot wear the super tight ones.. mine as well paint your legs blue.. as long as they are a bit loose, they stretch after your first wear too.. but printed skinny jeans.. no no.. I hate them as much as I do valuer leisure suits!
If you thought those were bad.. check these out!

Apparently the guys at Bataleon spotted the same pants (almost) on a dude. I think this is the look for you, Dee:
