WTF Wednesday Pants with a skirt… again?!
Just in case I haven’t angered enough people with my commentary on Burton’s new naked boards, I’ve noticed that it seems to be time for WTF Wednesday. So, I think I’ll make fun of these Roxy snowboard pants.
The Roxy Princess Pant is a bit cuter than the really bad Bonfire pants that I made fun of last year, but they still don’t answer the age old question: why the hell would I want to wear a skirt over my snowpants?
There’s a company out there that makes only skirts for snow pants, so I guess there must be some people out there somewhere who think these are awesome? At least the pants are a slimmer cut than the weird Bonfire skirt, which inexplicably came with baggy cargo pants. So, this wouldn’t make your ass look quite as fat. Unless plaid makes you look chubby? I’ll have to ask Tim Gunn and get back to you. Like Bonfire’s, this mini skirt is detachable, so I guess you could wear it alone, but it’d be a bit weird to be wearing a mini skirt made out of waterproof outerwear fabric. Plus, it might be a little baggy without all of the base layers and snowpants underneath. Maybe you could work up some kind of sharing agreement with a larger sized friend. As for practicality, the 5k waterproofing makes me suspect that this may not be designed for a lady who is looking to ride hard, but I guess maybe the skirt would help keep your butt drier when you sit down? Or it could just hike up into an unflattering lump around your waist and get snow caught under it.
I wonder if it would get caught on the lift as you dismounted and leave you stuck hanging by your miniskirt.

Hmmm, bad idea before, and still a bad idea. I just dont see the point. Doesnt seem practical, or even cute.
Although, once at June mountain I saw some ladies wearing long skirts made out of outerwear fabric, kinda A-line down to their ankles. They didnt speak english, and I looked online for them a few years ago and couldnt find them, so maybe it’s popular in other countries. I dunno. But this look is totally whack.

I found these, pretty much what I was trying to explain. And kinda cute, but I dont know how you’d skate through the lift line, unless you unzipped it.

those are interesting, but yeah they look a bit restrictive. like, if you unzip them you lose the warmth factor, but if they’re zipped it’s hard to move!

Those “toast skirts” make you look like a human lamp shade.

my boyfriend has informed me that this is actually awesome.

DearTragedy
the only girls I can see wearing these are the ones that go to the mountain and sit around on the slopes and socialize instead of riding!

i think they look kinda silly and i definitely wont be rockin these.... butttt… i went riding on christmas last year at jay peak and there were crazy amounts of hardcore jewish girls out riding… and i believe its required b/c of their religion to have to wear skirts ... bc the majority of these ladies were wearing skirts over their pants while riding… so this might be cool for them....

Imagine though, having a waterproof skirt to wear out to bars! No more worry about that drunk asshole ruining your night by dumping his vodka tonic on you in his messed up state.
Anyway, I don’t get the skirt/dress with pants look, in real life or on the mountain. But you know, whatever if it makes some girls happy, I guess go for it!

Oh and I really like that green and purple plaid. I may have to purchase it in something not in the waterproof skirt vein.

I saw the same thing with Jewish people at Snow Valley here in So Cal. It was tripping me out.
These skirts are hideous and completely stupid. The pro hos will be happy though, which is a much larger crowd than us who actually shred. So maybe Roxy has something going for them? It’s still a complete waste of fabric in my opinion.

so I’m not the girliest person ever being a marine and all will do that to you but if I’m going to wear a skirt I’m going to go all out and be smokin’ hot I’m talking heels and everything so like most of you I never fully understood the skirt and jeans thing let alone a fully waterproof mini with snowpants…

Ugh, these were stupid last year and they’re stupid now. They don’t even make sense for the hardcore religious girls because they’re shorter than knee-length. I just can’t get the mental image of sitting down to strap in out of my mind--knees up and out like you’re at the gynecologist. Now that’s girly!
