WTF is going on with Burton?
Yesterday, while inputting Burton’s description of the Troop into our board test results, I noticed that their description still included quite a lot about Elena Hight. This furthered my overall WTF about the Burton team lately.
This is kind of old news, but in case you don’t read much and haven’t heard about this, Burton has recently pruned their team down quite a bit, dropping and/or losing some rather big name riders, including Elena Hight and Anne-Flore Marxer. Considering the “Because of Snowboarding” videos that really promoted Anne Flore, and all the talk of Elena’s skills as a freestyle phenom on the Burton site, we’ve got a big WTF for Burton. Rumors are flying, but we haven’t heard from these girls directly. Did Burton just heavily promote them all summer and then go… oops, nah nevermind? Or was the parting more amenable? Apparently I need to do some more research and get back to you. Maybe I’ll get lucky and some Burton Message Board members will drop by and call us ugly and tell us?
On top of that, I just got off the phone with abc.com, and apparently the whole Love Series controversy is gaining even more momentum, and we hear they’re no longer going to have their whole Uninc line. Maybe there are top secret plans to become a corporation? Basically, Burton seems a little confused lately, and it’s confusing us.

TOTALLY! AND consider yourself VERY lucky if you caught any of the craziness on TWSbiz yesterday regarding the press release about the launch of Burton’s new line, Burton Restricted....the comments were CRAZY! RONIN is apparently being “replaced” by yet another brand, Burton Restricted, and it didn’t go over very well with the comments....it got so crazy that the article has actually been pulled from the site! I’ve never known that to happen before---Anyhow, clearly Burton is going through an identity crisis and you know it’s bad when just about everyone can see it....except themselves.....

Yep seems to be bit of a mess over at Burton. Identity crisis indeed.
I see Anne Flore has just announced she is now with Billabong Outerwear!
I see that Gigi Ruf is gone too, joinng Elena in head to toe in Volcom in their Snow Team.
Who will be next i wonder?

Yeah, I saw the start of the TWS stuff… didn’t know it got that out of control though!
I’m happy none of the riders are having much trouble finding new sponsors.

The best part about their riders finding sponsors after leaving burton is it proves that you can find another company after leaving them and aren’t dead in the water. Burton is so messed up right now all this shit is going down and Jake was out here riding Loveland and A basin.

Burton Restricted is not another brand, it’s Burton. Its just segmented producted and is “restricted” to select dealers.

Find out about what that I’ll see Burton Restricted at The sports authority? Its just going to replace Ronin the first year select shops, second year select shops and burton flagship stores, year 3 burton flag ship stores, burton online direct, and any other retailer that can buy in to get it. By year 5 it’ll be dropped and the process will be repeated.
