Project Runway x Beanie Thursday

As some readers may know, I really really really like Project Runway. It’s the one show on television that I watch, no matter what. Anyway last night was the season finale, so I thought it would be fun to do a Beanie Thursday in honor of this. If you like the show and you haven’t watched yet, don’t read any further, because there be spoilers ahead!

Anyway, Leanne WINS! Leanne was by far my favorite designer this year, and since usually my favorite designers get shafted at some point during the season, it was a thrill for me to finally see my girl win. Yay! I love Leanne and I love the style she brought to her designs. Through pleating and incredible detail, she was able to create, as she called them, architectural pieces inspired by nature. Sounds awesome to me! Anyway, I decided to try to fine a beanie that I thought would go well with the line that Leanne showed at Bryant Park.

Not surprisingly, the beanie I found came from Coal’s Considered collection. This collection is Coal’s higher end, more fashion forward stuff. The beanie I found that reminded me most of Leanne’s collection is called the Sumi, and it features finely detailed pleats, just like Leanne’s work. I think it would fit in well with the idea behind her wave inspired line, if you ignore the fact that it was intended for spring.

Also, like Leanne’s work, the Sumi is made from eco-friendly textiles; It’s a Hemp Wool blend, and in case you’ve been living under a rock, hemp is up there with bamboo as “the textile of the future.” It’s available in white, black, brown, and maroon, and it can be yours for around $45.

My attempt at making the Sumi part of Leanne’s final collection.

oh snap, Kelly!  I loved Kenley’s designs.  not her attitude, just the attitude of her clothes! smile One thing about the show, there’s always something for everyone. I’m a PR addict too.

I agree about Kenley, but should point out that Julie wrote this wink

I thought Leanne was kinda boring, maybe the beanie would help.

Kenley’s clothes aren’t to my taste.

I really really enjoyed Korto’s collection also, and would have been just as happy if she had won. But Leanne is my favorite from her work on the show and her previous work. I’m really excited that I’ll be able to get her clothes on Bluefly!
