Falling in Love

We all remember our first love. I’m 23 and have been carrying on with this love affair for about six years now. I can honestly say that the passion I have for this love never can nor never will be replaced by another.

All of eighteen years old, fresh out of high school is when I stumbled upon this theory of love. To some this makes me a “late-bloomer,” but for me it was just right. To this day, I would agree that there is nothing quite comparable to the feeling of fresh powder gliding under you as you race down a white mountain or the feeling of pride and accomplishment after fully grasp the concept of “heel-to-toe.” After this it was all downhill from there (literally!), I turned into one lovesick puppy over the mountain and the sport. I was hopeless. Head over heels for nothing else but snowboarding.
Like any good, dedicated girlfriend, I would wake-up at five am at least three times a week to drive two hours to my local resort, Bear Mountain. My friends and I would start at 8am and not end a session until satisfied with our skill-level for the day. Of course, this lead to many cuts, gouges, head-bangs, swollen shins and even a sore and swollen buttocks once (only one side! Imagine!) They weren’t kidding when they said, “Love hurts!” But, after many hours of not only hurting my body but pride as well-my hard work paid off! It wasn’t long until I was flying over kickers or hitting the park with the big boys! And every time I approach a box I still get that feeling of butterflies I know so well. The feeling that no man or boy has given me thus far!
Snowboarding has always been and will always be my true love. So I will continue this love affair… And now I get to be here, on ShredBetties, to write about about my love and more excited than ever to be a part of the team!
