WTF… Does My Snowboard Make Me Look Fat?
I’ve noticed a rather alarming trend in snowboard sizes lately. Girls keep getting smaller and smaller snowboards, and some of them seem suspiciously like they’re doing it to prove that they’re tiny. WTF? Soon, they will be riding down the run on a kid sized 110cm snowboard so everyone thinks they can fit into a size 0. Fortunately, in our recent interview with MFR (one of the badass-est girl riders out there), I was happy to hear that she rides some normal length boards, even for jibbing. Maybe her wise example can save all of these girls from a certain death. Well, okay, not death, but certainly an inability to eurocarve, which is kind of like death.

Election Day Beanie
Today is Election Day here in the States. Regardless of your political beliefs, I hope everyone is registered to vote and took advantage of that right today. In honor of this very important Tuesday, I thought I would show off some special edition Election Day Beanies.

Yikes…Stripes….
On Tuesday of this week, I woke up to a phone call from my mom informing me that it was snowing in Pennsylvania and that I should probably not attempt to ride my bike to the train station as I usually do. Gotta love moms, always acting like....well....moms, even when you’re in your late 20s. I was glad she let me know though, because despite the complete lack of snow in New York, it was cold and rainy which gave me the perfect excuse to pull out not only a beanie, but also my snowboarding jacket. And people wonder why I love winter!

WTF is going on with Burton?
Yesterday, while inputting Burton’s description of the Troop into our board test results, I noticed that their description still included quite a lot about Elena Hight. This furthered my overall WTF about the Burton team lately.

Know the Code
As the new awesome season of snow sliding begins I’d like to take this time to remind people of the responsibility code that is out there for everyone to follow. I had a bit of an incident yesterday and pretty much destroyed a skier and it made me think that people need to know this code.

Hidden Valley is Saved
If you haven’t heard yet, the news regarding Hidden Valley is good! Tim Boyd got a nod of approval from Wildwood to pursue a 10-year development plan that will ensure a long and healthy future for our local slopes! There is still a long road ahead, and HV will need us all to show our support again in the future as the proposal goes back to Wildwood. Thanks to everyone who has done everything in their power to show their support… this wouldn’t have happened without you.

Adopt a new kind of beanie
Occasionally, while looking for beanies for this blog, I get frustrated that more companies don’t think outside the beanie box. I mean honestly, there are only so many things you can say about a pom beanie after you’ve already talked about 4 or 5 this year. In these cases, I start to look outside of the typical companies that we, as snowboarders, tend to gravitate towards. In this case, my search brought me to Adopt.

WTF… A Man in Spanky Pants
In continuing news from the men in tight pants department, Bataleon has squeezed some dude into a pair of yellow tights. Don’t get me wrong, I love Bataleon, I even ride a Bataleon, and I must say it’s quite excellent. However, they do have a flair for imagery that is borderline creepy. For instance, on my Violenza’s graphic, there’s a bird that appears to be violating a llama with his beak (although Danny at Bataleon told me that he was just tickling him). I waver between finding this amusing and disturbing.

Project Runway x Beanie Thursday
As some readers may know, I really really really like Project Runway. It’s the one show on television that I watch, no matter what. Anyway last night was the season finale, so I thought it would be fun to do a Beanie Thursday in honor of this. If you like the show and you haven’t watched yet, don’t read any further, because there be spoilers ahead!

WTF… Helmets To Hunt In
This week, I couldn’t think of something to WTF about, so I asked our art director, Julie, and she pointed out that she is not very fond of those Bern helmets that look like you’ve just stuck your helmet on top of your baseball cap, so, I figured that those would be enjoyable to make fun of, and moseyed on over to the Bern Website.

Multiple Choice Beanies
Who doesn’t like choices? More importantly, who doesn’t like being able to change their decision....on the fly? Ever had one of those days where you simply couldn’t decide which beanie to wear? Well, Spacecraft comes to the rescue with a beanie that offers options.

WTF Wednesday - Skinny Pants
This past Saturday I checked out a double feature of the latest Mack Dawg films, ‘Double Decade’ and ‘Down with People’ at The Meeting. Never having been much for watching sports, I tend to find snowboard films a bit boring. But it’s especially when they do a lot of talking, Down with People has some pretty amusing talking, but not until the credits, when they had footage of Jeremy Jones and Todd Richards mocking all the boys in tight pants. Cuz, just when you thought guys couldn’t wear any tighter pants while snowboarding without some embarrassing seam rips, the People crew managed to add in that extra level of spandex-ness. So, when I saw these pants from Vans, the first thing that popped into my mind was the some guy like Jon Kooley or Jordan Mendenhall trying to stuff his package into them.

Falling in Love
We all remember our first love. I’m 23 and have been carrying on with this love affair for about six years now. I can honestly say that the passion I have for this love never can nor never will be replaced by another.

5 Friends
With the economy in its less-than-stellar state, a few celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, will. i. am, Tobey Maguire, Forest Whitaker and many others banned together to create a rather entertaining PSA regarding the upcoming election. I started watching it, not knowing what to expect, and I was really surprised how much I actually enjoyed a PSA about getting registered to vote. Unlike P Diddy’s empty campaign threat of “Vote Or Die” during the last election, I feel like this PSA was well thought out and really entertaining.

Let’s Talk Custom…..Beanies.
Gotta be the most unique girl on the mountain? Bored with mainstream beanies? Or just against supporting companies that are using Chinese factories to create your threads? Then you, my friend, need to look into getting yourself a custom made beanie.

WTF Wednesday Pants with a skirt… again?!
Just in case I haven’t angered enough people with my commentary on Burton’s new naked boards, I’ve noticed that it seems to be time for WTF Wednesday. So, I think I’ll make fun of these Roxy snowboard pants.

And we thought ski boots were bad
Occasionally, I scour the web for things that are not snowboard related. In fact, often times, those things are fashion related. Anyway, I came across some pictures of Ms. Victoria Beckham shilling her new perfume line at Macy’s in New York, and all I could think when I saw her footwear was “EGADS! I thought ski boots looked like a form of torture!”

Ode to Chairlift
So I was just reminiscing about some of my favorite things about snowboarding. Yet, I feel as though the ride up to the summit is often overlooked so I’ve dedicated this entry to all things chairlift. Let’s take a look, shall we?

Build Me Up Beanie Cup
Happy Thursday everyone!
So I recently have decided to put my willpower to the test by cutting things like cookies, chocolate, and delicious Carmelita bars from Whole Foods out of my diet. I’ve done so in the interest of health, and with the realization that when my metabolism slows down one of these days, I’m going to be in for hell if I keep eating like a college kid. So I’ve found myself reaching for an apple when we have office birthday parties, and turning down the calls of “Oreos in the kitchen!” in the middle of the day.
It’s very depressing.
