Hoodie Tuesday: Turkey Detox
We hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving. I’m pretty sure I ate more than I should have, so now it’s time to detox and get back to my usual food intake. With that mindset, today’s hoody is something simpler, and easier on the wallet than past hoodies. I introduce to you the Hurley One of Many at $40. This hoody comes with subtle Hurley logos dotting the front and Hurley written on the chest. It comes in Black, Heather Grey, White Wash, and Wild Berry. Here it’s shown in White Wash.

Hoodie Tuesday: Gobble Gobble
What are you thankful for? We’re thankful for hoodies..by the truckload (I wish). Anyway, today’s hoody is the O’Neill Myspace 2 Reversible which retails for about $60. One side has a cute dotted pattern with “O’Neill” written inside the dots. The other side just has “O’Neill” repeating over and over. It’s like two hoodies in one! Two for one Tuesday. It also has thumbholes in the sleeves. I don’t know about you, but more hoodies should have thumb holes. The hoody only comes in white with these patterns on it. Enjoy!

Introducing… Beanie Thursdays
Ah Beanies. The best defense against frizzy winter hair. I don’t know about you, but my beanie collection borders on ridiculous. And so, in honor of the return of colder weather, I present to you:
BEANIE THURSDAYS!
Think of it as a companion to Hoodie Tuesdays.
For my first beanie, I’d love to show off this fabulous choice from Bula called the Blondy. I love the guitar pattern, and the nod to one of the greatest rock bands of all time (Deborah Harry, we love you!) Shown here in Ivory, it’s available in four colors, so you can be sure you’ll find at least one that will match your outerwear. And wearing this beanie will give you all sorts of excuses to make silly “rock out” jokes. What more could you ask for?

Hoodie Tuesday: Election Day
Happy Election Day, Tuesday, November 6th, Birthday (if you’re celebrating one), Anniversary (if that applies), and National Nachos Day (apparently that’s today?). And of course, Happy Hoody Tuesday. Today’s hoody is another Nikita hoody, partially because I felt bad about last week, and partially because I just like the hoody. The Nikita Judy Hoodie (nikitaclothing.com) goes for about $54 and features a cool print with white/ocean blue/purple as the only color scheme.

Hoodie Tuesday: Hungry for Triscuits
No there is not a triscuit hoody, (at least that I know of). However, the DC Trisket is just as deliciously awesome, but not edible…unless you’re the hoody sleeve chewing type. Its fleecy interior is perfect for the cold weather to come. If you can’t tell from the picture, it has cute buttons going up both sides. It sort of reminds me of Keith from Project Runway last season when he made the dress with the red button, then got kicked off for allegedly “cheating.” Anyway…we found the hoody online for $52..so it’s definitely cheaper than the past couple of hoody tuesday hoodies. It comes in Heather Grey and Plumeria with a pattern on the outside.

Sometimes I Accidentally Wear Two Different Shoes
Yesterday, while I was having dinner at Redstone Pizza, I looked down and notice that I had a black skate shoe on my right foot and a grey and white skate shoe on my left foot. So, I was wandering around for hours with two different shoes on, and no one mentioned it to me. It made me wonder how often I have something else wrong with my personal appearance, and no one bothers to point it out to me. Like my shirt on backwards. Or no pants. When I was a kid I used to forget I was supposed to brush my hair in the mornings and just go to school with it all sticking out on one side.
Just thought I’d share.

Hoodie Tuesday: Halloween
Happy Day Before Halloween! Would you call this mischief day?..or rather..Misschief day? Anyway, in the spirit of Halloween and all things scary, this week’s hoody is one that scares us here at Shred Betties: the Nikita Saadia Zipped Hoody. When Kelly first showed me this hoody I thought, “Are we in The Wizard of Oz? because that looks like a scarecrow costume.” In fact, I’m sure you could actually scare crows in the field with this one. Maybe even little kids that come trick-or-treating. We suggest you save your $60 for something a little more human.

MFR On the ThirtyTwo Team!
Tabloid Tidbit: Okay, so maybe our celebrity news isn’t as exciting as a scandalous affair, or who just got admitted to rehab again for the eighth time. At least our celebrities in the boarding community don’t have names like tomcat or brangelina though, that has to count for something - right?
Marie-France Roy, also known as “MFR”, is the newest member to join ThirtyTwo’s team. This up-and-coming rider also just signed on with etnies Girl. Where do you know her from? Besides podiums from a variety of competitions such as the Abominable Snow Jam, and Nikita Chikita Showdown, MFR can be seen in shred videos “Lalaland” and produced by Runway Films and “Float,” as well as Rome’s “Any Means.”

Dear East Coast Weather Gods
Today, my friend Delphine (a surfer) was absolutely exuberant about the weather. I, of course, looked at her like she had 18 heads and said, “That’s okay Delphine, you can have your indian summer until November, but then it’s snowboarding season!”

Hoodie Tuesday: I’m Seeing Stars
You may want to put on some shades for this one. This week’s hoody is the Kidrobot Starry Day Hoodie (kidrobot.com). It’s certainly a flashy hoody (pun intended), but I really like it. Our Art Director, Julie, says Kidrobot hoodies are comfy so we’ll take her word for it. Um..you’re not going to like the price I’m about to spit out, but it’s because this hoody is limited edition! There’s only 112 in existence. Though, if you want you could buy the men’s version (it isn’t as fitted) for which there are 256. But just think, you could be one of the select few owners of such a magnificent piece of clothing. Also, this hoody isn’t just sold everywhere. Besides the 3 Kidrobot stores, it’s only sold in select boutiques (or on eBay if you’re lucky).

Hoodie Tuesday II
Yes, it’s certainly Hoody Tuesday time again. On this week’s silver platter is the Matix Asher Zip-up for Fall 2007 (matixclothing.com). In the past few years Matix has been coming out with solid women’s clothing, and these Asher hoodies definitely fit that description. Unfortunately, I don’t own one of these fantastic hoodies ( I have to limit myself or my entire closet would consist of nothing but hoodies and beanies), but I’ve tried them on and they’re comfy and cute. On Matix’s fall ‘07 line there are 8 colors/prints (Repeat Grey is shown at the right) that the Asher comes in and, depending on the color, it retails for about $60-65…

Too Much Time On My Hands
So, because the summer’s seemingly endless… us snowboarders get the itch for winter. Whether we check manufacturer’s websites for the new product line, post endlessly in forums, youtube videos of people falling just for your own amusement, we’re still looking for a fix. This summer, I decided that I would be a little more productive and not JUST laugh at people launching off jumps and face planting.

What’s Life without Tacky Pants?
Since I posted earlier this month bitching about outerwear that looks too much like streetwear and annoys me … I figured I’d give props to the companies who are making stuff I love: Tacky pants! I don’t know what it is about them, but I don’t feel right unless people look at my snowboard pants and scream “Augh, my eyes, my eyes!” I don’t really like tacky jackets, a plain jacket is fine for me… but I can’t resist brightly colored pants with insane patterns on them.

And in the WTF Were they Thinking Category…
I thought I’d also share this gem:
Just in case you don’t want to change into a skirt for your evening out, Bonfire decided to add a detachable skirt to your snowpants! Don’t get me wrong, I love Bonfire… but is this a joke? They even mention that you could wear the skirt alone, so it’s like two for the price of one? Neither look very flattering.

Snowboard Gear Not Dressy Enough For You?
We saw these at SIA and I thought they were rather amusing, and I just found them again - they’re gigantic rings that you can wear over your gloves, so you don’t have to go without your jewels when you’re shredding. This is from a cute, but rather interestingly named Japanese company called Kicker Fucker Chicken (KFC), which makes various accessories, including wallets, little pouches and ipod cases.

Take That, Off Season!
So I thought there was no substitute for the adrenaline rush of snowboarding during the long summer and fall months. Turns out I was wrong. All you have to do is jump out of an airplane!

The Magical Powers of Duct Tape
So with the approaching season I’m sure many of you, like myself, have already or will bust out the old wallet to fork over some $$ for some new gear whether it costs $5 or $500. I encourage buying, especially of women-specific products because it leads to the creation of more and better women-specific gear items. However, before you look to buy a completely new setup, there may be hope to revive your old stuff! ..and in a cheap way! Yes, that’s right folks- all you need to do is mosey on down to the drug store/hardware store/office supply store (okay so pretty much everywhere sells it) and pick up some good ol’ duct tape. You’re in luck too, because it comes in so many fun colors.

Is it still August?
So this weekend, when I SHOULD have been enjoying the last of the summer sun on the beach, I went through some extreme snowboarding withdrawal and decided that my time would be far better spent pretending to snowboard.

Pro Hoes, Grrrr
One of the few things that really bother me with the way snowboarding is going these days are all the pro hoes. Seriously why do they feel the need to just cling to some pro’s nuts and hope they get a hook up? Are they that horrid of a rider themselves that they can’t earn gear on their own?

Outerwear in Disguise?
Maybe it’s just that I’m some backwoods Colorado mountain girl, but I don’t understand all this new outerwear that looks like they’re trying to disguise your gear as some kind of urban, high fashion outfit. It looks a bit too much like something the bad guys in a cheesy 90’s ski movie would wear. I was just looking at the Holden 07/08 outerwear catalog, and at first I thought I had lost the outerwear section. They have always had an urban/fashion-inspired look, but it seems like this season they took it about 3 steps too far - to the point where you’d look like one of those first-time skiers who clearly doesn’t have any appropriate clothing. Except, guess what? Your inappropriate looking clothing is secretly waterproof!
