Interesting Videos
Sometimes boredom takes over, and you just need to go on YouTube to see what amusing things people have decided to display to the public. Well, while search “the Tube” I came across some clips from Roxy about HCSC girl activities at High Cascade Snowboard Camp last summer. The videos document part of the Roxy Get Outside tour, and the girls from the bus are pretty amusing. You can even see Erin Comstock playing soccer! Take a look:

Snowboard Sculpture
I was just trolling around Etsy looking for some new and exciting art for my apartment, and I happened to come across this:

I love the somewhat kooky nature of it. And at $39 it’s entirely within reach. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=8322130” target="_blank">Check out artexchange’s shop here.

Woo Summer!
Welcome back to Thriftless Thursdays! As you may know, I live at the beach, which means that this weekend brings us to the official start of summer. The lifegaurds are back on duty, and assuming New York gets the memo about the fact that it’s Memorial Day, the weather should warm up enough for some good beach time.

My Apologies for Another Wedding Post
…But someone shared these pictures from a wedding in British Columbia after the last one, and I just have to share. I’ll even forgive the bride for being on (gasp) skis!

I Will Spare You My Rant
So for the past week, I’ve been up to my ears in wedding related stuff. My best friend from high school is getting married this summer, and I’m not only in the wedding, but also her stationery designer. I won’t go into my rant about how stupid I think wedding etiquette is and how much I absolutely hate the industry that encourages absolute excess in a time when we should all be thinking about how we can reduce our carbon footprint. In an effort to stop being so annoyed with weddings, I did a quick search for snowboarding brides, and found some really amazing pictures from Julie Robles Wedding Photography that I thought I would share here!

Thriftless Thursdays
So it occurs to me that I probably come off as being a bit materialistic since week after week, I talk about all the cool stuff there is to buy in the internet. I should probably point out that I only get about 1% of what I write about, and internet window shopping is largely what I do while toiling away at my day job. That said, I do have to admit a certain love I have for a brand that is generally associated with high prices and sidewalk vendors who sell somewhat convincing fakes.

I Suck at Building Booters
After years of watching people huck their meat into a fluffy powder landing on snowboard videos, we decided this year, it was time for us to do the same. So, throughout the season, we’ve made numerous attempts to build the perfect backcountry booter. Most of them failed.
Attempt #1:
This was more desperation than anything else. With not much more than a light dusting of snow, we decided we could shovel it all into a track and then make a little jump in the middle of the track. Our boards slid okay on the mixture of snow and pine needles, but there was only enough snow to make a tiny little run-in and a tiny little landing. Not to mention the tiny little jump. Lesson learned: you need snow to snowboard.
