WTF… Shoes Made By Jeep?

In the summer, I do a lot of hiking, whether it’s to get a nice workout or to get me to some snow still left on higher peaks. Anyway, I went looking for some new trail shoes this weekend at our local mountaineering shop and found these… perhaps the cutest girliest hiking shoes ever (or i guess they refer to them as “trail casuals”)

If You’re About to Redecorate Your Room

Why not make it extra snowboardy? I was browsing around Etsy, my favorite site for things handmade, and came across this huge snowboarder wall vinyl. It’s only $35 and comes in a bunch of different colors. Could be pretty badass, especially if you layer it with some awesome snowflake or tree decals.

Thank Goodness for Youtube

…Helping me through my snowless time of need. And also for making it so much easier to watch girls who I’ve never heard of before shred. Check out this clip from Brighta, a Japanese women’s snowboarding film released 9/07.

Beanies on Hiatus

Since it’s officially spring in New York, Beanie Thursdays will be on hiatus for awhile because really, it’s just too painful to find awesome beanies and not be able to wear them because it’s almost 80° outside. But never fear, we have something almost as good as beanies to show you.

15 Beanies for Under $15

So I hear it’s spring. Not just according to the calendar, but according to the trees (they’re budding), the birds (they’re chirping) and the mountains (they’re closing…sigh). As much as I really do love not freezing my butt off while I bike to the train every day, Spring is just a sad time of year. Fortunately, spring means sales, so for this Beanie Thursday, let’s go bargain shopping and take a look at some of the awesome beanies that are on sale for $15 and under right now! Froogle is your friend to find these!

Dressing up for Snowboarder Girls

At my age, the approach of summer means more than just the end of snowboard season, it means something even more ominous… the beginning of wedding season. Suddenly you’re bombarded with invitations to weddings from friends you didn’t even realize were in a relationship. Which means lots of dressing up, making polite conversation with people you don’t care to know, and other fun activities.

The dressing up is the worst part for me. Some people don’t like being a bridesmaid, but I actually kind of prefer it. For one thing, I’ve never had to think about what to wear before. You just put on some hideous lavender satin thing the bride picked out to make sure that no one looked cuter than her and call it good. Another good option for mountain girls is a wedding in some kind of mountain location, where you’re expected to only be a slightly more groomed version of yourself. Sometimes you even get to show up in outdoor gear! However, this coming April I have to deal with the worst type of wedding for a mountain girl: I’m a guest in an East Coast church wedding, that, judging from the flowery and formal invitations, looks to be rather on the fancy side. This is quite stressful, it means I have to purchase airline tickets that take me to places with no snowboarding value, and pick out cute clothing that’s not outerwear. Gasp!
