PARK CITY, Utah (Aug. 8) - Winter Olympians are heading to China! Olympic gold medalist Julia Mancuso (Olympic Valley, CA) and silver medalist Gretchen Bleiler (Aspen, CO) might not be competing in the 2008 Olympic Summer Games in Beijing, but they’ll be in the midst of the action all the same. Each will embark across the globe on journalistic endeavors working for NBC and Yahoo! Sports.

Bleiler, who was recently named Best Female Action Sports Athlete at the 2008 ESPY awards will be in Beijing to interview athletes and provide morning wrap-up sessions at 9:00 a.m. ET daily for Yahoo! Sports “Olympic Wrap-Up.” The show will be available online here.

“Since I was a little girl I have watched the Olympics, and I’ve always wanted to go to the Summer Games,” said Bleiler, “Working with Yahoo! has been an exciting experience so far and I have a whole new appreciation for the media and how they work. I am looking forward to an amazing 17 days in Beijing.”

Mancuso, who won her gold in Torino, Italy, in 2006 will be a lifestyle correspondent for NBC’s Olympic lead-in show called “The Ozone,” which will air Monday through Saturday for the duration of the Olympics at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Mancuso’s segment, entitled “Julia’s Beijing Must List,” will follow her around as she explores Beijing as a winter Olympian at her first Summer Games.

“I am really excited. Two summers ago, I made a personal goal that I would end up going to the Olympics in Beijing,” Mancuso said. “I am really thankful NBC chose me to do the job and I am looking forward to the project.”

As for what will be on her list of things to do, Mancuso says, “Let’s just say that you might just see me doing things like petting a Panda, haggle at the market place, or reporting on Olympic fashion. Who knows, I’m a whimsical girl and I never really know what will tickle my fancy and make it on ‘Julia’s Beijing Must List’.”

Mancuso’s segments also will be available online at NBCOlympics.com and she will be updating her blog.

Tune in as the Olympic action starts Friday, Aug. 8 with Opening Ceremonies at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
