HELLO! I am autumn and I am writing a paper about women in snowboarding for my women’s study class and I would LOVE to hear your stories about how being a woman has affected your experience as a snowboarder. or if it has at all! Please leave your name and location and age. I would love to hear your stories and opinions.

I feel like I should share with you guys if I’m asking you to share:

    I have had a few times where I am riding up to hit a feature and some guy will cut me off RIGHT before I get to it and just yell “get out of the way bitch” or “move whore”  even though I am NOT going slow. I am NOT doing pointless tricks. It’s just because I’m a woman and they think I shouldn’t be there with them…

  Also. I feel like when I compete, having a woman’s class is kind of upsetting. cause where I am from at times there is just me.. and I feel like it’s pointless. I don’t ride any less hard, but I just feel like people are laughing at me because I am competing against my self..

for the most part, all my experiences have been good, like a lot of times i get guys coming up to me and bein like lookin good on that box or that jump or somethin like that, like they’re all pretty cool and encouraging for the most part. 

so not to try and bitch, but the one thing that really kinda made me mad (not really mad, but you know) was the mountain creek vid for the k2 pretty in pink jam.  that was my first “contest” ever, and i was pretty stoked that they were like filming and videoing alot during the contest.  I even made finals so i was even more stoked on that (except for the part where i had to hike more lol)  so naturally i was really excited for the video they were gonna make for it and all the photos.  it took them about 2 weeks to get the video up, and it was like 40 seconds long.. there are shots of like 4 girls out of like 30 that participated, and most of the pictures they put up were of people standing around, not really too many shred photos.  yet the butter cup video with all the guys was up 2 days after it happened and was like 2+ min long.  ..even the women’s snowshoeing got better coverage than the girls only rail jam.  wtf haha

but other than that, i’ve had no bad experiences about being a girl snowboarding (while i’m doing it at least)  i’m from the beach, 3 hrs from the closest mountain, so 90% of people and almost 100% of girls don’t even know what snowboarding is lol   i’ve gotten people ask me if im a lesbien before cause apperantly only guys and lesbiens snowboard?? lol..  but that doesn’t really bother me.. i find it more funny than anything, and then there are the guys who i’ll be like oh we should ride sometime, and they’re like sure if you can keep up.  then we get to the mountain and i end up having to teach them how to hit a box lol
