Seattle Snow Show & Downtown Throwdown
Oly The Intern
It’s one of those mornings where frost covers your car, you have to start pulling out your gloves and heavy coats and a hot coffee is a must. But, it’s a sign that the snow season is close here in Washington. Over the last weekend I headed to the annual Seattle Ski Fever & Snowboard show to check out the sweet deals at the swaps, get hooked up by local resorts and see what the boys were up to at the Downtown Throwdown rail jam session.
There’s nothing more exciting than walking in to a room full of people who love snowboarding just as much as you do. Everywhere you look there’s people looking at new gear, buying their season tickets (at discount prices!) and winning prizes like new cars and full snowboard set-ups. If you don’t live in Seattle, there’s events like these all around the country and I highly suggest you get on the bandwagon. My favorite parts of the days were 2 for 1 beanie deals at Evo, the DJ at Snowboard Connection pumping out the tunes and $20 Nikita tees at I & I Boardshop’s booth.

I also talked with local brands to get the low down on what they were bringing to the table for this season. Jessica at Snowbunny showed me the new SB line, which I highly suggest checking out for girly and unique board graphics and goggles. Then, Seth over at GlowBoardz convinced me in the durability of these LED lights in the bottom of a board and that I really could use flashing purple lights for those night trips down the mountain for extra steeze.
After a long day drooling over beautiful items at the show, I walked a block to Qwest Field – home of our Seahawks – and got hooked up at the Downtown Throwdown. It was the third year of this rail jam and it is never one to disappoint. The boys over at Snowboy Productions know how to throw a party and with riders like Jed Anderson, Nick Derks, Nic Visconti, Austen Sweetin and tons more – I was inspired. Now, I know this is a website for the ladies but we got to keep up with what the boys are doing in this industry. I froze my tootsies off but the pumped up crowd, free swag from Skullcandy and Red Bull and guest judge Jon Kooley made everything better.
