Loveland and A-Basin Open!

Early this week, Loveland Ski Area, and Arapahoe Basin announced that they’d both be open today, making them the first two resorts to open for the season in the US.  A-Basin announced early this week that they will have the Expedition Lift and High Noon run open, and Loveland looks to have Chair 2 open.  Both are reporting an 18” base, and from the looks of things, not too much natural snow… but I guess we’re all suckers for the early season white strip of death.

We won’t be able to make it out to Loveland until this weekend, but here’s some shots from both of their webcams:

A-Basin already has quite the liftline!

Loveland appears to be the place to go to get in more runs:

18 inch base at the basin?  Someone pushed a lot of snow around the stick they measure with to get that reading.
