Top North American Ski Resorts Announce Partnership with Liftopia.com to Help Families Ski More, Pay Less
First discount travel site to focus exclusively on discount lift tickets expands opportunities for local residents and tourists to hit the slopes
San Francisco, CA—December 12, 2008— Liftopia.com, the online resource for skiers and riders to purchase discount lift tickets, announced that this season it will offer discount single day ski passes to more than 80 ski resorts exclusively on the Liftopia.com web site. The tickets will be available all season long at varied rates, with prices and availability subject to change at any time (much like an airline ticket).
According to the 2008 AAA Annual Vacation Cost Survey, the average cost for two adults traveling in North America is $244 per day. Liftopia.com has partnered with 80 mountain resorts across the U.S. to help consumers drive down that average with affordable winter vacation options that include discount lift tickets. During the 2007-2008 ski season, the average discount for a lift ticket purchased on Liftopia.com was 33 percent, with savings up to 60 percent off the standard price. So far this season Liftopia is seeing an average discount for tickets purchased of 42%, with savings as much as 70% off.
“Our mission at Liftopia.com is to provide a straightforward way for winter sports lovers of all levels to buy discount lift tickets. As committed skiers and snowboarders ourselves, we understand how challenging it can be to hit the slopes with a tighter budget this year. By using Liftopia.com, consumers can research each resort in an easy-to-navigate and non pressure environment that allows them to choose what best fits their family and budget. That is why we are pleased to have so many great resorts join Liftopia.com and help provide awesome snowy vacation options at reasonable and affordable prices,” said Liftopia.com co-founders Evan Reece and Ron Schneidermann.
Each of these new mountains will have a dedicated profile on the Liftopia.com resort page, where prospective skiers and riders can review feedback from other Liftopia.com users. Sample feedback includes details on the trail conditions, number of lifts and overall experience, and will be qualified by the fellow Liftopia customer’s experience level with skiing or snowboarding.
“I used to only ski at big name resorts,” said Kate Pierce, a Liftopia.com customer. “But after I read other skiers’ reviews of lesser known ski resorts in some of my favorite snowy destinations, I was less intimidated to try something new. Paying significantly less for the lift ticket than I would if purchased at the resort also made it a very positive experience. I would recommend Liftopia to anyone.”
Discount lift tickets are now available for resorts all over the US and Canada. Customers must purchase in advance and for specific dates to get the special deals on Liftopia.com. Tickets can generally be purchased up until the night before arrival, but early planning is encouraged as tickets do sell out, and resorts do raise prices. Lodging, lessons, and snow gear may also be available at a reduced rate. Please visit http://www.Liftopia.com for more information.
