Janna Mayen-Wetherby Wins Chicken Jam Slopestyle

JANNA MAYEN-WETHERBY CLAIMS ROXY CHICKEN JAM SLOPESTYLE TITLE

Kelly Clark Crowned Women’s 2008/2009 TTR World Champion;
Weekend of Fun Drew More Than 20,000 Spectators

Huntington Beach, CA – (March 31, 2009) – The final day of the Fifth Annual Roxy Chicken Jam, presented by ROCKSTAR Energy Drink, saw an awe-inspiring finale with bluebird conditions at Mammoth Mountain, CA.  Slopestyle veteran Jana Mayen-Wetherby (USA) took first place and $15,000 wowing judges and onlookers alike, and also won the Zumiez Best Trick Award.  Jenny Jones (UK) put down a solid run to claim second place and $7,000 and Roxy rider Lisa Wiik (NOR) took the third spot on the podium and $3,000, securing the TTR World No. 2 finish.  Kelly Clark (USA) claimed the 2008/2009 Women’s TTR World Champion Title today at the Roxy Chicken Jam.

After some intense wind yesterday that put the contest on hold, the weather cleared and it was a perfect sunny day for the Slopestyle competition.  Jana Mayen-Wetherby was in a class of her own today, stomping a huge stylish run that consisted of a Gap to 50-50 on the first rail, Japan air on the hip, a 50-50 on the rail, Backside 540, Cab 720 Mute, Cab 540 Mute and a 50-50 on the box.  Jenny Jones was one to watch and took second place when she busted out a Frontside Air, 50-50 to 180 off, Cab 360, Cab 540, Frontside 720 and a 50-50 to finish of her run. Roxy’s Lisa Wiik also had a great day throwing down a Method, 50-50 to Backside Lipslide, Frontside 360 Stalefish, Backside 360 Indy, Backside 540 Indy and a 50-50.  Overall it was a excellent day of competition for female snowboarders.

The three-day all-women’s professional snowboard contest was the final 6Star event of the Swatch Ticket to Ride (TTR) World Snowboard Tour and crowned Kelly Clark the 2009 TTR World Tour Champion.  “It’s amazing. It was really a long shot for me heading into this weekend and to end up on top, it’s really the icing on the cake to a great season” said Kelly about her Title win. “It’s really great to win the TTR Title.”  Roxy’s Lisa Wiik took the TTR World No. 2 spot and Jamie Anderson placed third for the year, all three secured automatic invites to all of the major TTR events for the 2010 season.

“We are so pleased with this year’s Roxy Chicken Jam at Mammoth Mountain,” said Randy Hild, Executive Vice President Roxy Global Marketing. “The 2009 event marks our third year as the final stop on the TTR World Tour and the deciding contest for the women’s world title. In addition to the competition, the Roxy Chicken Jam included a winter wonderland festival which saw more than 20,000 spectators visit Mammoth Mountain for the event and featured a free concert with music guests Santigold and Cold War Kids on Saturday evening in Village at Mammoth.  Additional activities over the course of the weekend included hair by Paul Mitchell, touch ups by Covergirl, Roxy demo boards and skis, and other giveaways and goodies.
